To summarize this story in three words: Bruises, Egos, and Catastrophe
It was my first day skiing and I was prepared to go beast mode. In short I did it for a Girl Scout badge. I should’ve known it was going to be bad when my friend blocked me with her skiing poles as we were getting off of the ski lift and I skied into a pole and fell. That’s not the worst part. My cousin (self-declared experienced skier) brought a friend and I felt on top of the world. Out of all the other troop members I, Bean had the most support. A fan club if you will. But, I got too confident. I had mastered the bunny slope and thought nothing could get in my way. I decided to go on the slope above the bunny slope and honestly, it wasn’t too bad. My ego grew too quickly and that’s hard for me to admit as someone who’s basically good at everything. But, when I got to the third slope and saw the emergency people skiing down the slope to rescue someone, I knew things weren’t as great as they seemed. There was no way back, I had to go down the slope. So I skied, but my inexperience caught up to me. I lost all balance and gravity pushed me harder than it ever has before. So, I slid down the ENTIRE slope. A few days after it hurt to sit. A few months after it still hurt to sit. IT ENDED UP BEING A YEAR AND A HALF and I was still the girl with a bruised butt. My mom has since and has banned me from skiing ever again.
