How My New Year's Resolutions are Going - One Month In
by beezer

I went into 2022 strong. I was going to eat healthy, read 70 books, and write in a journal every night. I was ready to be “that girl”. I am now thinking that was a bit unrealistic.

It was very bold of myself to think I’d ever willingly read a book again after I had to read The Odyssey. To this day, I am still traumatized. I have read approximately 4 books this year, half of them being required for my English class. I think it’s pretty safe to say that I probably won’t read 70 books combined across the next decade.

Eating healthy at Westridge feels impossible. From those deliciously processed cookies to fresh breakfast pastries every morning, I gave up on my dream the first day I came back from break. It is truly too hard to turn down a chocolate croissant.

I thought I could turn my life into Diary of a Wimpy Kid if I started writing, but that was not the case. When it came to writing in my journal, I actually started off the year strong, but that all came crumbling down when I was too tired from soccer practice to lift a finger. Maybe over the summer I’ll start up again, or not.

I think it's safe to say I should be focusing on 2023’s goals. 2022 was already a flop. My new New Year's resolution is to look forward to 2023. Help.
