How To: Know When Your Parents Are Having Game Night!

by egg
- Dinner is more uncomfortable than usual. More flirtation is never a good sign.

- They tell you “We’ll do the dishes.” In the moment, this may sound kind and generous, but that feeling you get as you leave the kitchen – that gut reaction of discomfort as they laugh over dirty dishes – trust it. Your instinct is telling you something, so listen to it.

- Now in your room doing homework/watching Netflix, your parent calls up to you something along the lines of: “Go to bed early tonight!!! You need your rest, or you’ll get sick.” At this point, your suspicion should be on high alert. Game Night is soon to ensue.

- It’s after 10 and if you’re asleep, I congratulate you on a job well done. And if you are still doing homework/watching Netflix and you hear a parent clamoring in the kitchen, getting something to drink, and opening the freezer for those fancy ice cubes - STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND GET READY FOR BED. Your parents have got the snacks and beverages, it’ll be a long night of games, and you are not invited.

-Here you are, lying in bed with the lights out and teddy bear in hand wondering if the sounds you hear are from the neighbors, or the old house, or god forbid… your parent’s bedroom.
