Anyone who has taken Spanish at Westridge knows the online homework portal VHL. VHL has a variety of important features. Spanish students love the classic “cual no pertenece” questions that list four items (ex. “tree,” “grass,” “elevator,” and “flower”) and ask you to identify the item that doesn’t fit. VHL also offers an online textbook and instructional grammar videos with a small, socially awkward man.
My personal favorite VHL activities are the Flash Cultura videos. Where else can you see an energetic interviewer asking locals in Madrid about their marriage problems? But the real highlight of these videos isn’t even the marriage counseling facilitated by an over-excited millennial with a microphone. My focus always strays to the interviewer's clothing: the coveted Flash Cultura t-shirt.
All I want in life is a Flash Cultura t-shirt. It has both style and sentimentality. It looks like a vintage t-shirt, and it has the nostalgia of late-night Spanish homework. It has a perfect color scheme. It looks relatively comfortable. The logo is perfectly placed to make a crop top. It is the perfect shirt.
I have scoured the internet. Etsy, eBay, Amazon, you name it. At this point in my search, I’ve accepted that I might have to design my own Flash Cultura t-shirt. If any of you want one, leave me a comment, and I’ll see what I can do. I will only take payments in Bitcoin.
